30 - Roy Halladay talk. seriously nobody has anything bad to say about him and it couldn’t have happened to a better person. work ethic, the way he treats others. the way he handled himself on the trading block. JP Richardi, his GM on the Blue Jays, was not getting great offers back (offseason 2009-10) and he was screaming IT’S ROY HALLADAY!
33 - similarities btwn halladay and strassburg: staring into the abyss failure and being motivated by it (halladay, a #1 pick had a similar problem early in his career - not enough fastball movement)
44 - buster says pettite is definitely not getting into the hall of fame b/c of his attachment to PED. “it only takes 25%+1)
46 - horses. clemens and pettite during spring training runs. rivera was “the best center fielder” in the last decade. different specimen. rivera as this generation’s yogi berra (“loves baseball” and will come back to visit etc)? eeehhhhhhhh.
49 - upcoming Jeter contract: simmons: 75 for 3. olney - 45 for 3. “he’ll be a left or right fielder”
51 - part of what makes the yankees successful is that they are a cutthroat organization. when ruth stopped being effective he was out. dimaggio was moved for mantle. reggie was shipped to the angels.
52 - life is about leverage. and the only leverage jeter has is the new york mets. good luck with that!
